the waiting game
tonight is looking good (eyeing me hungrily from all four corners of the room) but the fun doesn't start for a few more hours. Thus, I have followed my present impulses, and constructed what could possibly be the weirdest compilation I have ever made.

Somebody That I Used to Know-Elliott Smith
The One You Really Love-Magnetic Fields
Wicked Game- cover by HIM
Already Dead-Beck
The day After the Storm-Hayden
Recoil-Ani Difranco
Hunter-Bjork
Worlds Apart- And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead
16 by 32-The Decemberists
Anything You Want-Spoon
I Know-Fiona Apple
The Twilite Kid-Twilight Singers
You- Radiohead
Been Let Down-Mazzy Star
You Are What You Love-Rilo Kiley
How to Say Goodbye-Magnetic Fields
Seeing other people-Belle and Sebastian
sunflower-Low
Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh-Bright Eyes

typical Ann, maybe, for those of you who know me best :-)

And how did I miss this the first time, Kelsay?

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

"And now the lights have been switched off and the clanking projector shoots out a beam of light, showing a million dust motes in the air. The only way my father could think of to instill in me a sense of heritage was to take me to dubbed Italian versions of the ancient Greek myths. And so, every week, we saw Hercules slaying the Nemean lion, or stealing the girdle of the Amazons ("That's some girdle, eh, Callie?), or being thrown gratuitously into snakepits without textual support."

Magnetic Fields is great! I'm going to play 69 love songs, you just reminded me that I haven't listened to them in awhile.

I LOVE Green Darkness and Katherine! I can't believe she's in print again. How did that happen, after 30-odd years? I saw Green Darkness, shiny new, in paperback (I have library-bound editions from the 70s) at WaldenBooks and I almost passed out. I was like MINE MINE MINE...Barnes & Noble had Katherine and Dragonwyck, all new printings. It's so exciting! She's my favorite author. :) (If you cant tell by how fanatic I'm being...) I've never read Dragonwyck, but its great so far.
